Based on Capn Doubledose's review I've got to go with this today

http://www.archive.org/details/gd77-05-12.aud.clugston.6484.sbeok.shnf

Reviewer: capn doubledose - [4.0 out of 5 stars] - December 29, 2005
Subject: People What the F*ck? ? This is a '77 audience not a digital master you have to rate this in context and NOT AFTER 1 SONG
There is NOTHING WRONG with this show, in fact this is chock full of unbelievable music and some hilarious snippets like the guy getting booted for smoking dope in the beginning of Estimated (awesome) after he was warned the 1st time. Half Step is insane one of the best of the year as is the Dancin and this is still the 1st set!

Set II is wonderful and a solid '77 addition. Terrapin>Playin is rocking and it's a long set.

Lately, on Friday nights, me and a friend play Monopoly and listen to the Dead. Maybe Saturday then. You all go to bed too early!

WOW! This really is a great AUD. It really catches the sound of the room, and the mood of the crowd. Jerrys guitar isn't too forefront and you really get the whole band coming through pretty clearly, as if your there. Its strange how much May of 1977 keeps surprising me.

And strange that their are several reviews on that page of people unhappy with the recording! Thats a good AUD. Their are some problems with the speeding up and slowing down of the tape but its not so bad.

Listened to it today. It was the one I skipped when I listened to the whole month because of the bad sound quality. Then, when I was done with the whole year I figured I should go back and listen to the really bad sound ones and was more than pleasantly surprised.

The two GEMS turned out to be 4/26/77 and 5/12/77. They both have the same crackling vibe that makes you feel like there is a short-circuit in everyone's seats. They are slathered in "IT" both nights and the crowd rides shotgun the entire night.
